Shopping Vintage Etsy

Last week I decided that I wanted new teapot and more and more if find myself turning to Etsy for my vintage purchases.
The one I use right now is very small, but only holds about 1 2/2 cups and I really wanted one that would hold about 3ish.
I also wanted it to to be kinda atomic or mid century modern.
I ended up buying the teapot pictured above from EPOCA ECLECTIC , I know, awesome.

While shopping I also ran across these other vintage teapots/coffee pots I liked (a couple have already sold) and a Nosferatu Vinyl Wall Art.
Seriously.
Creepy, but awesome:

I also liked this vintage Pyrex tea/coffee pot:


and this incredible Arn Jacobsen Tea Set:


and this small Atomic Star Pitcher:



(and DAMN YOU whoever bought that Schaffer Beer Clock!!! I went back to buy it and it had sold the day before. Arrrrrggggghhhh. I would never have shown it if I had thought I might get a nice run of sales so I could buy it for my kitchen. Very sad.)

Etsy Is Evil

Really it is.
It calls to me....wants all my money ...

Ang, over at Dorothea's Closet turned me onto Spa Goddess on Etsy.
I'm a total sucker for handmade beauty products.
I bought this bunch o' samples and feel in love with this and this and this.
I love the smell of lavender, I love the way the scrub and spray makes my skin feel.
And my skin does look much, much better.

Of course it did not stop there. I also got some yummy lip balm, Pink Lemonade and Dreamsicle, from You Stink Soap. The seller sent along a sample of Birthday Cake soap.
Best.Smell.Evah!

Last but not least I got this great little eyeglass case from Wrightsan.


It is awesome, I loose my keys all the time. I love slipping my cell phone, credit card and driver's license into this puppy and leave the big purse behind. Great barkcloth fabric.

Today I bought this bar shampoo from Dress Green. I'll let you know what I think once I've used it a few times.

Lesson Learned

Here is a hint.
After you take that Ambien, do not go online and shop or might end up bidding on items that you ALSO then turn around and BUY on Amazon.
You have been warned.

Books For the Vintage Lover

I know I said that I would be reviewing David Sedaris's book next, but I did want to get these two gift giving recommendations out first.
If you are looking for a gift for the vintage clothing lover in your life (or yourself) here are 2 of my favorite books.

First off is The Seductive Shoe by the wonderful Jonathan Walford of Kickshaw Productions.
The book has all the shoe eyecandy one could ever ask for while exploring the effect of historical and societal changes on footwear . Organized chronologically, it includes an illustrated appendix of designers and shoemakers. Really, the pictures in this are just some of the best I have ever seen, clear and crisp.

The next one is Fashion, The Collection of the Kyoto Costume Institute: A History From the 18th to 29th Century. This is, of course, just a lovely book with beautiful garments and a nice heft that makes it also good for self-protection since one could wack an intruder with it. While the scrumptious photographs take center stage the small amount of text is rich with details. This has been re-issued a few times, the last being 2006 when the book was split into 2 volumes.
Loses the protection aspect, but may make it easier to handle.
