Bonnie Cashin and Coach

Coach has a new line of bags inspired by Bonnie Cashin.
While they are cute, and dude they are seriously cute in some awesome colors, for the same amount of money (or less) you can buy a great vintage Cashin bag.
Like here and here and here or this great red Cashin at Dorothea's Closet.

What I am Watching

I love this gray marbled swirl lucite vintage purse.
On eBay, auction lasts a few more days, but it has a $75 Buy It Now.

I would buy it if I had the cash, lucite purses are getting harder and harder to find around here. and I would love to have that sitting with my other vintage purses.

Vintage Purses...Christmas Colors

These are 2 of my favorite vintage purses of the whole calender.
The red is probably 40's with a Lucite clasp while the green one is 1930's made of a early vinyl that replicates alligator skin. If you have ever had one of these early vinyl bags you know how soft they are compared to more modern vinyl.

This late 30's or 40's vinyl handbag is on Damn Good Vintage, great color, soft and the shape is slick.

Back to Vintage

Election is over, Obama is President-Elect and Michelle wore an awesome dress to the White House.
Back to vintage.
Here are scans of a couple of vintage purses on my desktop calendar.

Mice at play basket bag with woven ribbon, 1960's.
Am I bad to think that "mice at play" means mice playing poker? Or even better Mice Plotting to Take Over the World?

Phone-cord bag in multiple colors, 1950's.

I love these bags and they were pretty popular from the 40's to the 60's so they come up quite often on eBay and vintage sites.
Here and here and here and here.

Estate Sale Finds

I had a cool sale weekend.
Got a great set of vintage tumblers, aqua blue with with rubber swirls and still has the original holder.
Then I found some vintage purses, a sexy cocktail apron (very swanky over a black chiffon cocktail dress and with a martini in hand) and a great pair of vintage sun glasses.
Along with a few great dress (black again, all I buy is black) and vintage shoes.
Here are a few pictures of my finds.

Floral Plastic Box Baguette, Early 1950

Velvet Heart Purse, Elizabeth Arden, 1930's

Seriously, I would be happy to have any of these vintage purses to carry around.
How awesome would it have been to go out to dinner last Thursday with that 30's heart purse.

More Vintage Purse Scans

Here are 3 scans of my favorite vintage
purses of the past week from my purse calender.
Cushion-top boudoir bag.
1988-89.
Not really sure why one would need a bag in
the boudoir (sex toys, maybe?) but it sure is pretty.

Pouch purse in velvet with decorative cameo. Europe. 1900's.
Satin handbag with poodle clasp, 1960's.
'cause its a purse, with a poodle on it.

Caturday Purse

I take part in a Secret Santa each year and this Christmas I
bought my SS recipient this purse calender.
I liked it so much I bought one for myself too.
Oh, there are some great purses.
Some are vintage and some are not.
I've decided to scan my favorite purses as I come to them.

The scan above is of
"Harle" calico cat bag with thread "hair" and
applique from Priscilla Snyder, 2005.
Yes, that is a purse.

Vintage champagne-bucket evening
bag in black suede by Anne Marie of France, mid 1940's.

Waving "Quelle Idole" (what a doll) Kelly Bag. Hermes, 2000.
